May 21st 2010 - On Monday, June 21st 2010 at 7:00pm at Tazza Café in Providence, RI, Ahtspot.com presents the 5th Annual Ahtspot Open Call! This is an event for actors, filmmakers and theater professional like no other. The Ahtspot Open Call is an open form audition show where talented actors can audition for the crowd of directors, producers and even other actors. Each actor gets no more than two minutes on stage, and if they go over their time they are hosed down with silly string to let them know it is time to go. This popular event has been very well attended in the past and this year’s event will be once again hosted by none other than the very talented John Ring. You can see pictures and videos at the links below. Actors can find instructions to sign up below as well.

From 7pm to 9pm you will be able to watch actors audition for the audience, then after the show stick around and approach your favorite talent. Order a drink, relax, take notes and enjoy the show!
Actors, sign up begins at 6:00pm and there can be a line. Actors will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Ahtspot.com clients will have the ability to pre-register online. However if you are not there when your name is called to go on stage, you will be skipped and added to the end of the line. Not all performers may get a chance to perform if time runs out. Remember you have two minutes or less to do your piece. You can perform anything you want, it is your time to shine! So get there early or sign up in the members’ section.
Also, next year keep your eye out for a new bigger event coming up from Ahtspot.com that will include a chance for all ahtists to show off their work from all mediums. This may be the last Ahtspot Open Call held in Providence for a while, so if you have been thinking of going, this is the event to be at. Come, enjoy yourself and meet some cool people!

April 2nd 2010 - Don’t forget, the 5th Annual Ahtspot Open Call is this Tuesday, April 6th @ 7:00pm at Improv Boston!!! (40 Prospect St. Cambridge, MA) Several Boston casting directors may be in attendance and they have suggested that we remind actors to bring multiple copies of their headshots, résumés and marketing materials with them. So don’t miss this event and your chance to be seen. Sign up for actors begins at 6:00pm and it is on a first come, first serve basis. You may however pre-register for the event in our members section. Please remember, if your name is called and you are not there, you will be moved to the end of the list. We may not get to all performers, but we will get to as many as we can in the two hour show, so get there early!

The Ahtspot Open Call will be in Boston at Improv Boston’s Main Stage Theater on April 6th, Tazza Café in Providence, RI on June 21st and in Connecticut (Location TBD) as part of the Film Industry Mixer on August 28th.

January 1st 2008 - Happy New Year! With the New Year brings an upgraded section of Ahtspot.com! Our jobs section has now been upgraded to a career opportunities section. We had been working on this section for several months after many requests from businesses and events to have a section where they can post contests, festivals, grants, scholarships, workshops and classes. March 11th 2007 - Well 2007 is well under way! Ahtspot has been growing in leaps and bounds and our ahtists are getting more exposure than ever. So far this year Ahtspot has generated more than a half a million hits to the site! More and more we hear stories of ahtists getting work and being discovered. We are happy to serve the New England Arts Community and we are honored to now have over four hundred members! Ahtspot will continue to serve the community and we ask for your help to spread the word.
Since our last update Ahtspot has chosen their newest logo from a collection of New England Ahtists who submitted their designs. The new logo was created and designed by graphic designer Chris Magdalenski. He was awarded a check for $350 and honored by his peers at the last Ahtspot networking party. We thank Chris and all who entered the contest and we were glad to have them all as members. Ahtspot thanks the local community and we will continue to strive and develop new ways to service you.
January 1st 2007 - Happy New Year to All the Ahtists Out There! May 2007 bring you great success. Ahtspot is looking forward to 2007 as a promising year. We are just a few sign-ups away from having over 300 ahtists on the site. We also have received some great new logos for the contest. some of those will be posted on the site to get public opinion.
The biggest news of the year right now is going to be an Ahtspot Networking Party on Sunday January 28th 2007 at Tazza Café in Providence, RI. Mark your calendars now! It will be a huge ahtist party and the best part is there is no cover charge for Ahtspot memebers. Just print out your Ahtspot entry and that is a ticket for you and a guest to get in! So I hope to see you all there.

September 18th 2006 - Well, today marks the one year anniversary of the creation of Ahtspot! We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have embraced Ahtspot as we moved from an ambitious concept to a full fledged resource for New England artists.
